First introduced in 2005 as a 2006 Model, the V8 Vantage went on to be an unmitigated hit for Aston Martin, with production and sales well beyond any AM model in the long history of the company. AM at the time was owned by Ford and under the direct control of the Uber Boss of the automotive world Ulrich Bez who prior to his tenure at AM had guided both Porsche and BMW. Now Bez knows his sports cars, he himself a former prodigious racer.... this was a guy with a vast automotive knowledge base and an iron will strong enough to not just get things done, but to get them done right!
The V8 Vantage was in many ways a fresh direction for Aston Martin, more known through history as a producer of finely crafted, purely bespoke, Grand Touring cars, but with the dawn of the modern automotive age and changing market trends, the significantly small vehicle production volumes at Aston Martin continually put the company's survivability in serious question.
Ford needed to turn the ship around and Bez knew exactly what was needed... a direct competitor for the long storied Porsche 911, a car that could perform along side the 911, yet retain the traditional bespoke nature, hand built quality and undeniable beauty of the historic Aston Martin brand. Although often quoted as a Henrik Fisker design the V8 Vantage has since been claimed by the indomitable Ian Callum as he had headed up design at AM through the V8 Vantage's concept and initial development years. No matter who deserves the credit, the V8 Vantage has proven itself to be one of the most beautiful cars produced in the modern era. A stunning blend of classic lines and modern details; lean, lithe yet with undeniable performance intentions.
Stunning beautiful, it is without any doubt, yet it is also a highly competent Sports Car and a very capable Grand Touring car to boot. These original V8 Vantage Coupes can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.6 seconds before topping out at 175 mph (282 km/h), right on target with the Porsche 911 & 911S from the same era. Handling is impressive given it's well balanced chassis, the suspension is firm, but not harsh and the rigidity of it's unique underpinnings plays a supportive role in moving this car down the road at speed.
Power delivery from the Naturally Aspirated 4.3L V8 is beyond reproach and it has long been recognized as one of the best sounding engines in the automotive world. Power is distributed to the rear wheels via a rear mounted Ricardo Developed 6 Speed Manual Transaxle with Limited Slip Differential.
Similar to be sure, but yet so very different than Porsche's 911!
Great video review and buyer's guide from the Pro's @ Hagerty
As you may or not know we at SportsCarLocate have been chasing cars for our clients for over a decade now, and although we have successfully located far more 911s than anything else we continue to hunt down great Sports, Exotics & Muscle cars from near any era. So no, this is not another Porsche, but trust us when we say that a shockingly large number of former 911 Porsche owners bought these V8 Vantage cars back when they were new, and that reality is still true today as many former owners of Porsche 911s have been busy in recent years scooping up these pre-owned Aston Martins.
You might ask us why, given that both cars targeted a similar market segment along with the reality that many of the magazine writers and reviewers of the day gave the virtual performance tie to the 911? Yes the 911 often proved just a touch quicker than the V8 Vantage and there is no denning that the Porsche 911 remains a strong choice in it's segment, but that of course is not to imply that the 911 is the only worthy contender in this field. All said we simply think that past owners of 911s simply get this car, they identify with all that it offers and love the unique attributes that can only be found in the V8 Vantage.
When you play with cars a lot, as we do, it would sometimes seem that everyone and their brother has a 911, and near every corner you turn another look alike 911 shows itself. That is not the fate of the Aston Martin owner as although the V8 Vantage was AM's best seller, it is by no means common. With only 22,000 V8 Vantages, of all the different variants, were produced over it's 11 year long production run, this compares to approximately 300,000 911s produced over the same period of time. Hence your chances of coming across another V8 Vantage, while out on your fun run, is shockingly small.
When you start to breakdown the 22,000 V8 Vantage cars produced, into categories... Coupes and Convertibles, Manual Trans. cars verses the less desirable SportShift (Auto/Man) cars, along with the rather lengthy list of model variants, from the different production eras, you will begin to realize just how rare these original V8 Vantages can actually be..
In regards to this particular example... when you consider that just 8154 of the Series One/4.3L Coupes were produced (MY 2006-2008) in conjunction with the Aston Martin reported stat that only 30% of the V8 Vantages left the factory with a Manual Transmission, indications are that only 2500 (approximate) like this exists across the globe, with likely less than 100 of those 2500 hidden away in Canada.
Built to World Class Standards
This V8 Vantage is powered by a 4.3-litre (4,280 cc) quad cam 32V V8, which produced 380 hp at 7,300 rpm and 302 lb⋅ft torque at 5,000 rpm. This is an engine that simply loves to rev and it sounds great doing just that!
Though based loosely on Jaguar's AJ-V8 architecture, this engine was unique to Aston Martin and featured Dry Sump lubrication, which enabled it to be mounted low in the chassis for an improved center of gravity. The cylinder block and heads, crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, camshafts, inlet and exhaust manifolds, lubrication system and engine management were all designed in house by Aston Martin, and the engine was as has long been the tradition of Aston Martin, assembled by hand, by one of 32 skilled engine builders at the AM facility in Cologne, Germany, which at the time also built the V12s for the DB9 and Vanquish.
The engine is front mid-mounted with a rear-mounted transaxle, giving a desirable 49/51 - front/rear weight distribution. Slotted Brembo Brakes were standard. And surprisingly given the car's price, the V8 Vantage shares much under the skin with it's costlier stable mate the DB9.. including Its high-tech glued-aluminum skeleton frame, but with a wheelbase shortened to 102.4 inches, along with reduced overhangs.
Aston Martin’s unique VH (Vertical Horizontal) architecture is constructed from lightweight aluminum extrusions, precision castings and pressings, the underframe is bonded with aerospace adhesives and mechanically fixed with self-piercing rivets. Certain complex parts of the frame are precision die cast in aluminum; the door inner panels are cast magnesium and the windscreen surround is a one piece aluminum casting.
The frame is bonded with cold-cure adhesive which has exceptional damping properties that help soak up the vibrations which may otherwise appear if the structure was welded. This unique architecture provides an excellent backbone, while the use of sophisticated materials such as lightweight alloys, magnesium and advanced composites for the body further contributes to the car’s low weight and class-leading rigidity.
The V8 Vantage uses a combination of aluminum, steel and advanced composite exterior panels. Composites are used for panels with a high degree of complexity and a deeper shape, such as the front wings, which incorporate the distinctive side strakes.
Distinctly, each V8 Vantage was built by hand at Aston Martin's Gaydon Facility in Warwickshire, England, with each car taking 200 hours to complete. Clearly this hands on attention to detail shows in the spectacular leather interior, the swan doors that open with a dignified 12-degree upswing, the machined-aluminum gauges and the flawless paint finish that covers it's beautifully contoured body panels.

Download PDFThis V8 Vantage is on offer from it's private owner Steve, a long time enthusiasts for near anything automotive, he too is a longtime Porsche 911 owner of the Air Cooled variety, and currently owns a G50 Era Porsche Targa, that he keeps in company with a few other automotive toys in his ever changing personal collection.
This car is currently with it's owner, garaged and hidden away from the elements. This private owner has had the car for the past four years after sourcing it shortly after it's original long term 'Canadian' owner decided it was time to move on to his next conquest. This is a quite rare originally Canadian delivered example with a pristine history, minimal ownership turnover, and clearly a car that was always garaged kept and winter stored throughout it's life, as there is zero evidence of any of the normally seen wear found on a, four season driven, Canadian car.

Steve the current owner/seller is well known to SportsCarLocate as we have assisted him in the past. In fact we helped find a new caretaker for Steve's Porsche 993 Coupe, possibly one of the nicest you'll find in Canada. He is a determined, dedicated enthusiast who simply never seems to stop improving upon the cars that come into his hands. As he nears retirement this lifelong business professional is now culling his current group of cars, no doubt to make some room for something fresh to his hands. Steve has an undeniable knack for finding cars worthy of ownership, and once his, he works to enhance each piece he touches.
This is the story of his V8 Vantage, as although all original, super low mileage and a pristine history find - Steve found a few minor flaws when he took it in. Now Steve being Steve he could not just let these things go! So while in his care this stunning Aston Martin has been thoroughly poked and prodded by some talented AM Techs, both of the franchise dealer and the independent variety.
The Suspension Struts were replaced, the Brakes front and back were refreshed with New Rotors and Porterfield Pads, the factory rims were professionally refinished, a fresh set of (4) Tires (Michelin Piolet Sports) were installed, all of the support struts for the doors, hatch and hood have been refreshed along with the normal fluids, flushes and filters. There is likely more, but this gives you the picture!
Originally purchased at Grand Touring Toronto with most of it's servicing being completed with this organization in combination with carefully chosen Aston Specialist Garages. All servicing is up to date, the car has no known needs, and all of the extensive service history is with the car in a Binder ready for your review.
The V8 Vantage even made it into the well respected Hagerty's Bull Market List for 2021
" Hagerty ardently upholds the philosophy of “buy what you love.” When that love intersects with cars that are appreciating, so much the better—you might just be able to buy what you love and also drive it for free, which is surely proof of a well-lived life.
Over the past four years, that’s what Hagerty's Bull Market List has been all about highlighting fun cars, across a variety of budgets and tastes, that we believe are poised to rise in value over the next 12 months. This isn’t a get-rich-quick list for flippers; it’s a tipsheet to help enthusiasts get their cake and maybe eat it, too. And it’s informed by our analysis of all the market data Hagerty has at its disposal."
So if you are in the market for some fast fun, take this opportunity to dig deeper and do a little research on the V8 Vantage. We think that the model and this car in particular deserves your serious consideration!
Look around the market and compare, as we believe that there is currently no better opportunity, on either side of the border, to get your hands on a 'Buy Worthy' V8 Vantage, that approaches the high standards set by this beauty.
Our V-Consign program provides enthusiast owners a unique platform to offer their automotive treasures for sale direct to legitimate buyers, without investing the endless hours. inviting the significant risks and enduring many annoyances normally associated with a private party vehicle sales.
Is it perfection? Well all said, although we are resistant to talking up near any pre-owned car, we would have to say this is just about as close as you are likely going to come to finding perfection!
This is a difficult to source V8 Vantage/Manual that is not just ready, but eager to get you out on the road to experience for yourself the glorious attributes that this storied Marque offers to the fortunate few. The enthusiast owners that buy this model are people with high expectation, that demand a touch more than the norm... exclusivity, stunningly good looks, in combination with serious performance capabilities. This is exactly what Aston Martin offered buyers with the introduction of the V8 Vantage.
Yes there may be other similar examples to review and consider, but pick carefully as accumulated mileage, actual condition both cosmetic and mechanical, past ownership and damage repair history, along with that all important Service History (especially when talking exotics) all play a big role in actual market value and your ability to resell the car in the future without much, if any loss, to your initial investment.
We strongly recommend that you do not buy a less than prime Aston Martin!
The current owner of this treasure, has ever since his purchase, opened his wallet willing to ensure that this AM got everything that it has needed... he is not that all too common - drive it until it drops, then dump it, type of guy! Steve is in fact the direct opposite of that guy, and as such Steve is the guy that we should all be fortunate enough to buy our next car from!
I would highly recommend that you take the time to look at the various images provided by the seller on this very impressive V8 Vantage. Inside, outside, the engine bay and even the underside of this example is simply not the norm that you'll find, when you start seriously chasing one of these Astons at 15 years of age. Take a peek at the flawless CarFax History and Canadian Dollar Valuation Report, and then I think that you may better understand the opportunity presented here.
My personal view is similar to that of the Pro's at Hagerty - this model is actually currently under valued by the market and as such it has now entered a Holding Phase with current market values being virtually locked in. Think it through my fellow enthusiasts, as how often in your life, have you been given the opportunity to buy an attainable exotic, that is at, or nearby the end of it's depreciation cycle - yet one that presents virtually like new, and not suffering from neglect, and deferred maintenance.
YOU KNOW THAT YOU WANT IT! As priced at just $56,900 CAD as indicated earlier a comparable example can not be sourced from either side of the border currently, at this digestible price point. So no matter where you are give us a call or connect by email to discuss this opportunity further. near or far we will even support you throughout the process of getting it home!
The vehicles on offer through SportsCarSellers are for sale direct to you from their registered private owners. SportsCarLocate/SportsCarSellers is not vehicle dealer and we do not buy or sell vehicles, we instead provide our private clients location and marketing support services.
