This 911 clearly has our personal stamp of approval as SportsCarLocate was instrumental in sourcing the car and importing it into Canada on behalf of the current owners many years ago. The owners, Arlene & John, are not simply past clients. We have gotten to know them over the years and they have become true Porsche enthusiasts. We do not just know the people, but we also know the car and more importantly we know the love and care this stunning 996 Cabriolet has been shown.
Originally sourced back in the Spring of 2012, this car at the time, a 10 year old 911 had spent it's life in the sunny, dry southern U.S. and given it's impeccable condition, clearly garage kept and cared for. When purchased the car was in near new condition throughout having travelled just 31,000 miles from the day it first left the new car showroom floor.
Prior to it's purchase we had arranged to have the car inspected at the local Porsche Dealer, and as we had suspected that it would, it came through the inspection with flying colours.
Arlene and John were directly involved in every aspect of the car's acquisition from day one. Like most car chases finding this 911 did not come quick or easy as this couple wanted a truly fine example. Their trust in the team at SportsCarLocate, and their patience to wait for the right 911 to come into view paid off, and although purchased sight unseen, from a distance, the thrill was palpable weeks later when the car arrived by commercial carrier at their home.
Anyone that gets their hands on their very first Porsche 911 is in for a treat and a true treat it was the day that this Porsche Cabriolet arrived at it's Canadian Home. The new owners were excited to say the least and they quickly fell head over heels for their 911. Talk about giving your car some lovin... this pair from day one have never left anything to chance, as this car is serviced religiously by the local Porsche Indie Garage and cleaned often. Our tally of the service invoices on this car since this couple's purchase show that they have invested just a couple of dollars under $14,000. in it's care through their years as this 911's caretakers.
Garage kept at this couples golf course home when not in use and driven only on those really nice days and of course stored securely away each winter while in Canada.
Here we are in the Spring of 2021 and the decision has been made to let this treasured Porsche move onto it's next lover. Regretful as they are to see their 911 go, Arlene and John hope to find it a good home with a caring owner.
This 911 Cabriolet is much unlike the norm that we see, or that you may find, out in the open market, as although it is now 17+ years of age... it looks, runs and drives like a three year old example. It has a pristine history with an available fresh CarFax report to back that statement up and no known issues, due to the incredible level of care and respect it has been shown through the years with Service Invoices available to review.
If you are looking for a truly great 911 to love and enjoy we sense that you simply can't do better than this at this unquestionably attractive price point.
Our V-Consign program provides enthusiast owners a unique platform to offer their automotive treasures for sale direct to legitimate buyers, without investing the endless hours. inviting the significant risks and enduring many annoyances normally associated with a private party vehicle sales.
To be fair to both buyer and seller, I would have to say that this is as near to perfect as you'll see at this mileage, age and price point! Further having looked at these 996 - 911's for decades now, I would suggest that this is likely the best all round example that you are likely to find this season or next for this money.
Yes there may well be other 996s coming into the market this season, but very few will offer a buyer this desirable mix of condition, low mileage, pristine history and value. 'Purchase Worthy' 911s from this era can be far more difficult to source than many may think as although 996/911s are not that rare, simply stated at this age so many that are available are not cars that we would or could recommend. Unlike so many, this Porsche is ready and eager to get you out on the road to experience for yourself, the glorious attributes that the 911 offers it's very fortunate owner.
For the current owners of this treasured 911, it is not a car they actually wish to release from their possession, but time as it does for all of us marches on and for Arlene and John it's time to thin the herd.
No rush to sell here as they have space in their garage and if the car remains with them they will still put it to use on those summer country drives, just not as often as they would have in years gone by. That said I doubt that this car, as priced, will remain unsold for long and I would highly recommend that you take the time, today, to look at the imaging provided by the seller of this very impressive 911 and seriously consider the prospect of purchasing this car. Inside, outside, the engine bay and even the underside of this example is simply not the norm that you'll find, when you start seriously chasing a 911 from the 996 era.
Whether you have longed for a Porsche 911 for years, or maybe you have more recently acquired a lust for what is undeniable one of Porsche's best, I highly recommend that you reach out us to dig deeper and learn more.
I personally believe that as priced this car is actually under valued by the sellers given their ask at just $31,500 CAD (approx. $25,000. USD with today's exchange),
If you want quality and know the value that low mileage and respectful ownership provide, you know that this is a true opportunity for buyers on either side of the border. Please take the time to compare the other 911s and trust me when I say that taking near any of those cars up to the standard set by this one, will prove to be a very painful and shockingly costly process.
So no matter where you are in Canada or the U.S. we suggest that you don't hold back. Give us a call or connect by email to discuss this opportunity further.
U.S. buyers take note that this being an original U.S. Spec car makes it an easy export back into the U.S. market.
The vehicles on offer through SportsCarSellers are for sale direct to you from their registered private owners. SportsCarLocate/SportsCarSellers is not a vehicle dealer and we do not buy or sell vehicles, we instead provide our private clients location and marketing support services.
At rest awaiting your first drive!
On offer here is a Second Generation (Mk2, or Facelift) 996, a model that Porsche went to great effort to refine and refresh over the original 99-01 996 cars. First up was the larger, more potent engine now a 3.6L instead of the original 3.4L. This engine upped both the power and torque with the engine now rated at 320hp. A little nip and tuck both inside and out freshened the look and that all important 'Stance' just seemed right on these Gen2 cars.
Like any 911 ultimately the question has to be.. how does it actually perform? Well clearly Porsche got it right with this era of 911 as these Tiptronic S equipped cars can truly get up and go with a 5.6 seconds to 60 mph and a 175 mph top speed. Far more that just the speed it is the way the speed is achieved with the gloriously sonorous Naturally Aspirated, Flat Six singing it's way to it's 7300 rpm limit in each gear.
Straight line performance is just one piece of the performance puzzle as in a sports car it is more about the full spectrum of performance... just how any car puts it's power to the road, how it handles, brakes, rides and steers at speed, these are the attributes that separate the real thing from the wanna be 'Sports Cars', and yes without a doubt the 996/911 is a true sports car!
It is important to note here on this offering that once mastered the Tiptronic S offers far more than just ease of operation as it is a highly competent Sport Focused Transmission capable of selecting the correct gear at the very right moment in time, allowing a driver at speed to concentrate their attention to the road, picking the fastest line through each corner before powering out of the corner down the road to the next. Porsche's Tiptronic S, much like the subsequent PDK Transmission, is no performance slouch!

As you may or not know we at SportsCarLocate have been chasing Porsche cars for our clients for well over a decade now, and although we have successfully located all manner of Sports, Muscle & Exotic cars through the years for our clients, the 911 remains our main focus.
Porsche's 911 has through the decades become the standard from which all sports car are judged and with each new generation it quite handily took the crown at the top of it's field. The 911 has throughout time proven itself in the marketplace, decade after decade, to be far more than just simply fast fun, as Porsche's 911 stands out from any crowd as it is built to withstand the test of time with overall reliability and longitivity well beyond the automotive norm.
That is not to say that the Porsche 911 is infallible or without flaws, as if you research any breed of motor vehicle today you'll learn the down and dirty. Every make and model, highline or bottom of the barrel has it's own unique list of frightful issues hidden deep inside and not surprisingly so does near every era of 911, including the 996 era. That said the 911s known flaws from the dawn of this heralded model onwards has certainly never impacted on it's desirability or marketability, new or pre-owned. It is this reality that remains one of the true wonders of 911 ownership. as unlike near anything else in the used car market each available 911 always has a line of willing enthusiast buyers waiting in the wings and it is those knowledgeable enthusiasts that ensure 911 values remain high and depreciation remains negligible, once a 911 reaches the end of it's new car depreciation cycle.
Treated with the respect that every good 911 deserves, maintained right and kept out of the damaging climatic conditions these now fully depreciated 996 Era 911s are near vault like in the manner in which they protect a buyer's initial investment. Own, Drive, Enjoy and if you treat it right this 911 upon your resale should return you most if not all of it's current value back into your pocket. The 996 Era cars are finding fresh to the fold Porsche Enthusiasts globally as they are quickly being re-discovered as the Great 911s they have always been.
The 996 Era - Porsche 911 has for years now not been everyone's favorite flavor of 911, although it was heralded by the enthusiast magazine writers back in the late 90's, when it was first introduced. Sales worldwide were massive, yet many Porsche Traditionalists in the early days of the 996 could not forgive Porsche for replacing the Air Cooled Engine with some silly (new for the Porsche 911) Water Cooled device.
Porsche had earlier intended on doing away with the 911 all together and replacing it with the upmarket 928, but clearly the very traditional Porsche enthusiast following would have none of that, and at risk of losing the hearts and minds of buyers worldwide Porsche relented and tossed away the idea of ending the 911's rein.
Of course as time moved on so did the competition, which pushed Porsche to keep moving forward by following it's long successful 911 refinement program, never throwing out the old, and instead continually making what they built just a little bit better each year. This refinement continued to work well for Porsche and that program kept the 911 throughout the 80's (Carrera), and 90s (964 and 993) eras at the front of the pack, but then Porsche ran into a wall as competitors were catching up with totally fresh, modern era vehicle designs and Porsche soon realized it needed to not just refine, but actually redesign the 911 if it hoped to stay ahead.
Porsche was well aware that the power requirements needed to stay at the forefront of the sports car world was soon going to be beyond the natural limitation of it's historic Air Cooled Engine design. Although the Air Cooled Engine had more power to give it could not be relied upon to provide this type pf power cost efficiently in a production vehicle that had to be both reliable and ready to go the distance. Hence the need to move the next 911 into the Water Cooled world and the All New 911 the 996 came to be.
Of course changing the 911 over to a different power source required far more than a simple refinement of the still quite original 911. Naturally Porsche wanted to retain that Classic 911 look to attract it's existing client base, but Porsche also had to look forward into the future to ensure that the New 911 would prove desirable, while bringing fresh faces and fat wallets back into Porsche's showrooms.
The 996 was Porsche's new and vastly improved 911 and Porsche had a real winner on it's hands with glowing reviews and record sales. For Porsche there was no looking back, or so they thought... as many of the traditional 911 enthusiast tended towards distain instead of delight. Although the 996 was a marketplace champion that turned Porsche, a down on it's luck auto manufacturer, into a powerhouse, the 996 era cars, much like the earlier 964/911 (previous to being Reimagined by Singer), never fully caught hold of the Porsche enthusiast crowd.
That was then, and this is now... times they are a changing and the 996 is slowly, but surely being rediscovered by a fresh breed of Porsche enthusiast that were not brought up on those old, dated phobias focused on 'Fried Egg Headlamps' and often questioned reliability. These fresh eyed enthusiast see all that is right about the 996, not just what the loud internet voices had decided was wrong, and these enthusiasts see a truly great 911 ignored and well under valued. Opportunity Knocks and knowing enthusiast are not afraid to answer the call!
