These now Classic, Air Cooled, 'End of Era' Carrera Coupes are the cars that fill the daydreams of near every Porsche Enthusiast. For many these are the cars that respectfully carry the heritage of the illustrious Porsche Brand best, with virtually every aspect of the model in one way or the other directly traceable to the first 911, which had been introduced way back to 1963. This final series of the Traditional Carrera (1987-1989) prior to the introduction of the 911/964 cars carried on board over 20 years of engineering enhancements to the storied 911 breed, and for most they are consider to be one of the finest Porsche cars ever produced.

Although just under 15,000 3.2L/G50 Carrera Coupes were produced over their three year production period, today it would seem that there is just not enough of them to go around, with global demand remaining high.
Although this brand and in particular this model, is internationally recognized as the Gold Standard of sports car reliability and longevity, many examples from this vintage era have long ago surrendered to time or now in fact dead having been the victim of over enthusiastic drivers, but most we believe actually live on, secreted away in enthusiast's garages and small personal collections.

Kevin's 1987 Porsche Carrera Coupe
As you may or may not know we at SportsCarLocate have been chasing Porsche cars for our clients for over a decade now, and subsequently we have successfully located 911s from every era, but for many of our clients and followers the G50/911 Coupe remains at the pinnacle of their 'I've got to own one list'.
These were cars that achieved greatness not just on the tracks around the world, but also in the canyons, the mountain passes or simply anywhere a twisted length of pavement could be found. These were and are sports cars that do just about anything well... yes, a touch of a understatement here, as these cars were, in their day, without a doubt 'World Class' and capable of embarrassing near anything on wheels, no matter what the test, with the right driver at the wheel.
Performance has rarely been a question when you are talking 911's, no matter the era as performance is the bedrock of the Porsche Brand, but these last of the breed Traditional Carreras were in their day, and even more so today, so much more than just simply about performance numbers.
These Carrera cars, for most knowing Porsche focused enthusiast, sit at the high water mark of driver engagement, and are treasured for their uniquely analogue nature, the impossible to deny visceral response they evoke, and their capability to scream out a sonorous aria uniquely their own!
Yes, every iteration of the 911 offers something unique, different and special that sets them apart from the others,. These 911 G50/3.2L cars, I would suggest have proven themselves to be the very best 911 for the largest cross section of enthusiasts focused on Classic Porsche ownership. Hence we don't really see that their position in the market is likely to change moving forward in time.
In fact we would hazard to guess that not only will demand remain strong for this model, but in time grow expediently as availability becomes more and more constrained.
This car is on offer from it's private owner Kevin M., an auto enthusiast and now an undeniable Porsche lover. We at SportsCarLocate assisted Kevin in his chase for his 'Right 911' back in 2019... he knew just what he wanted as he had been doing his own groundwork and research having settled in on scoring a G50/911 Coupe.
Now by 2019, not unlike today, the market supply for these very desirable 911s was already very tight and we knew that finding a good one was going to be slow going. A few less than buy worthy cars were still hanging out in the market and available, but nothing that was close to right.
Then this Black Beauty popped up out of nowhere, an honest to goodness quality 'Driver' that had been nicely freshened up and serviced by its Engineer owner who did all his own work at his well equipped home garage. Brian T. was a guy with a good handle on just how to turn a wrench and was not afraid to dive in and get his hands a little dirty. Brian had sourced the car out of a collector's garage in 2018 and had been working on correcting the issues he discovered along the way.
Brian was straight up, fair and pretty direct on sharing what information he had and the images provided documented a G50 Coupe in overall very nice condition, appearing to be mostly original with the exception of the enhancements he had completed prior to his offer to sell the car.
Next step for us was a PPI - and in this case we went direct to the local Porsche Dealer for their professional review. A few issues were identified and after an agreement was struck to have Brian the seller correct what was discovered, Kevin moved forward on the purchase of the car.
This was Kevin's first Classic Air Cooled Porsche and he didn't want to wait for delivery so once the work had been completed, Kevin flew down and drove his 911 home to Oakville Ontario.
Since Kevin's acquisition in 2019 the car has been shown some serious attention by the local well known Air Cooled Specialist Garage - 'Mantis'. Kevin has never shied away from the car's needs and treated it to the resources of his open cheque book.

This car is currently with it's owner, garaged and cloistered away from the elements, as it clearly has been throughout its decades in the Northeast. Not every Classic 911 got this kind of respect and the difference between a sheltered example and one that was not is very evident.
This car was originally delivered into the U.S.A. where it spent its life in the northeastern U.S. States before coming to Canada in 2019. Clearly the car's condition both when purchased by Kevin in 2019 and as it sits today demonstrates the care and respect that this car has been shown by all those that have owned it since new.

This understandably is not a car that Kevin the current owner actually wishes to sell, but he, like many of us, suffers from a wandering eye and an unquenchable desire to taste as many of the automotive bonbons that he can before time slips away.

Mantis (Racing) Autosport in Oakville On, has been Kevin's go to since his purchase of the Porsche and where he invested approximately $30k CAD into the car's maintenance, rebuilds and tasteful modifications.
Cosmetically the car remains stunning, finished in what is believed to be mostly factory original, paint. Yes, we suspect that there have been touch ups and some re-sprays here and there as no 'BLACK' 911 goes without acquiring some road rash over the miles. That said, importantly, we see no evidence of note worthy corrosion or past rust repair. The interior is swathed in what we suspect to be its' factory original Black Leather, which shows far nicer than most, but does have a light touch of the usual wear on the driver's seat bolster.
We recommend that you take the time to look at the various imaging provided by the seller on this very impressive 911 Coupe, both inside and out, as this is not the norm you are likely to find when looking at others from this era.
